Just a quick note to say that the official Broken20 SoundCloud page has now gone live.
Up now are some exclusive previews of our first release, as well as an excerpt from b20_03 from Erstlaub. Coming up will be a track from our next release from Isodyne as well as some other nice bits.

2/3rds of Broken20′s operations team, ruaridhTVO and production unit, are releasing their debut album on Dutch experimental label Moving Furniture Records. It’s a live, improvised ambient/drone album based around a stringed instrument much like a zither, processed in real-time.

Despite our b20 web-bot forgetting to post this up on the main page, our 4th podcast has been getting masses of hits and acclaim. Erik XVI, a fellow Highpoint Lowlife traveller, has really hit on something with the very unique way of recording a techno mix he’s utilised. He talks about his process here – but i’d recommend checking the mix first from our Podcasts Page to avoid spoiling the surprise.

Our new podcast is now online. Coming from dj Alextronic of Liverpool’s Hive Collective (the people who put on the performance that we’re releasing, and who are helping put together the DVD) it’s a live recording of a dj set he performed at the Tate in Liverpool last year. Featuring Zoviet France, Chris Watson and S-Express, it’s a joy to behold.

Podcast 2 is from Rose and Sandy, a dusted off set from April 2006 that was originally on the NSD podcast series. Taking in field recordings, ambient interludes, spoken word and some swung beats, it’s an archive session that still manages to encapsulate where Broken20 is going.

The latest in our free BrokenZeroThree release series has just gone live. “The Long Road”, from Dundee based artist Erstlaub was originally a 2006 cd-r of dark, droning ambient. We’re making it available in advance of new work from him appearing on Broken20 very soon.

‘On Becoming Invisible’ is a 70 minute exploration of drone, dark-ambient and post rock, blended together by Dundee-based artist Erstlaub who will be releasing new music with us in the next few months.
